Sequencing Events

Students will learn to identify the order of events in a story and retell them in their own words. This skill is important for comprehension, recall, and retelling.

Reading Early Literature: Sequencing Events

Early literature can be a challenging read because of the language used at the time it was written. Understanding and sequencing events will help students to understand the story and enjoy it more.

Sequencing is putting events or things in order, in the way that they happened.

To sequence events, students should first identify the setting, characters, and plot of the story.

Then they should think about what happened in the beginning, middle and end of the story.
How should students sequence events? put them in order, put them backwards, randomly choose.
